About

About this site

This site is the online journal of Stan Maddox.

Typical topics include aerospace, amateur radio and other two-way communications, automotive, high technology, maker activities, model and real-life North American railroads, music, and the outdoors.

In addition, Stan occasionally shares bits of creative writing, including essays, observations, short stories, and the occasional brain dump.

This site is designed and maintained in WordPress, primarily for the ease of implementing interactions and blog-style functionality. Visually, it is minimal on purpose.

About Stan

Stan has done a variety of things in his career. But this is an informal journal, not a resume site, and he does not place much weight in prioritizing job titles over personal identity, unless one’s knowledge and experience lends a degree of expertise to the conversation. (I’m looking at you, LinkedIn.)

Personally, Stan has amassed a useful amount of his own knowledge and experience in broad overlapping disciplines, some highly technical, that have served him well. Some of it is reflected here. Some, not all.

Stan also finds that talking about himself in the third-person gives him a case of the heebie-jeebies.
